Investigation and relating tectonics events to each other and mineralization with mineral microscopic analysis

Abstract:

The Sabzevar ophiolite is one of the conflicting region located in the north east of Iran۱:country-region>۱:place>. In fact this ophiolite is relating zone between Toran and Iran۱:country-region>۱:place> microcontinent plates, so defining and relating tectonic events in the first glance here is too difficult or impossible. It should be keep in mind that the metallic and none metallic minerals preserves these changes in their shapes. However, image analysis of their microscopic image could clear the sequence and effects of tectonic events. Representative samples were gathered first from the highest tectonized zones, thin and polished sectioned prepared and investigated in details, then. Many evidences did bring out the degree of faulting, the sequence and influences of tectonic events and their relation to mineralization, especially chromite ore. These events were classified in four categories (phases).  NW-SE and N-S striking faults were happened in the last phase. NE-SW faults took in place in phase three and E-W faults are for the first period of faulting (second phase). In fact the analysis showed that trusting and colored mélange happenings are related to the first phase of tectonic events and more importantly to mineralization.
