Orogenic gold mineralization in Saqqez- Sardasht area:

Criteria for gold exploration in metamorphic rocks, Northwest of
Sanandaj – Sirjan Zone

Saqqez- Sardasht area is located in the northwestern of Sanandaj Sirjan metamorphic zone, west of Iran۱:country-region>۱:place>. Main lithological units of this area, includes Late Proterozoic? - Mesozoic volcano – sedimentary rocks which were metamorphosed in green schist facies.

Saqqez- Sardasht is an important area, because the new gold occurrences which were recently explored by GSI.

Numerous gold occurrences (exclusive of Barika) were controlled by altered shear zones which intersected metamorphosed volcano- sedimentary rocks.

With respect to special tectonic setting and occurrence of several orogenic gold mineralization in the metamorphosed host rocks terrains of the Saqqez- Sardasht area, which are located in the northwest part of the Sanandaj- Sirjan zone, there are good potential for orogenic gold mineralization, therefore special attention should be done for exploration of these type of gold mineralization in the metamorphosed terrains of the above- mentioned district.
