Akhlamad dam is one of historic structures of Iran۱:country-region> in khorasan Rasavi province which has been built on Akhlamad۱:placename> River۱:placetype>۱:place>. In spite of ۷۰۰ years old this ancient structure has been good resistance to failure. For rehabilitation of Akhlamad dam, reservoir water tightness is one of the main activities. This research has attempted to design the best procedure, based on engineering geological condition, for seepage control along the dam foundation and abutments. Water tightness procedure has been designed in a manner that changes the least view of Akhlamad dam. For this propose Akhlamad dam site has been categorized in to ۳ main geotechnical domain. Based on hydrogeological and engineering properties of each domain Water tightness procedure has been designed. A combination of impermeable blanket, concrete carpet and grout curtain has been used in this rehabilitation.
