Separation of porphyry copper alteration zones using ASTERimage data

Abstaract

As hydrothermal alteration can be used as a criterion for mineral exploration,recognition of the altered areas can be helpful as far as regional mineral exploration is concerned. The object of this study was evaluating the Advanced apace born thermal emission and reflection radiometer data to mapping hydrothermal alteration zones around jebal barez region, kerman, Iran.ASTERis a 14bands multi spectral imager, flying on the TERRA spacecraft and measures spectral data from land resources in three region from visible and near infrared region(VNIR), short wave infrared region(SWIR) and thermal infrared.region(TIR).Analysis of VNIR and SWIR band of ASTER showed that this image can recognize the altered areas with more accuracy. In this paper,differantapproaches for recognition of a altered areas througth image processing techniques by using PREDICTION BND,FALS COLOR,INTERACTIVE STERETCHING werw taken. In addition, promising areas were distinguished by integrated remote sensing data and other geological data.
