Pterocarya fraxinifolia C. A. Mey is one of the species previously from the Caspian lowland forests, Caucasus and Anatolia. This research carried out between 2002 to 2005. The stand of this species studied in Shaft (Gulian Province).About one-third of this area has been coverd by Pterocarya fraxinifolia. The area of soil erosion was classified by an integration of slope gradients, land-use types and vegetation cover rates, and soil erosion rates. There was a reduction in soil erosion rate of 2.11 percent during a 3 -year period after soil conservation. The comparison of soil erosion severity between pre-conservation and post-conservation revealed that soil loss has been obviously diminished and the measures were quite effective.
