Environmental Management in Mines and Related Industries, case study Iran
Abstract:
Extraction and mineral processing have many environmental problems;therefore environmental management is one of the principles that must be considered in each mining activity. Environment Management System in mines proposed methods to control and reduce environmental pollutions and to replacement of energy consumption.
Comprising the traditional and modern approaches for environmental problems indicate high potential of modern approach. Considering of environmental parameters in mines, mine companies and establishment of Environmental Management System in mine industries have many advantages.
To establishment of E.M.S, it’s necessary to design standards that they are called “environmental standards” and most important of them are ISO 14000, E.M.A.S, I.C.C. and BS 7750.Results demonstrate that establishment of E.M.S based on ISO 14000 have increasing trend, but only 26 percent of Iranian mine company’s success to gain ISO 14000 standard.
