Thermal treatment of Carbonate-Silicate Lead and Zinc Ore from Dareh Zanjir Mine

Abstract

 

In this research, the possibility of pre-processing of carbonate-silicate ore of Dareh Zanjir mine by calcination process was studied. The provided sample was analyzed using qualities and quantities methods. It was found that the zinc bearing minerals were Smithzonite, Willemite and Hemimorphite with total zinc of 11.6%. Taguchi method was used in experimental design. Calcinations optimum parameters were determined as temperature of 900 °C, Calcinations time of 60 min and sorting of 50 meshes. In this conditions the sample  mass reduction was obtained to be 25% and the zinc grade in calcined sample increased to 13.98%.
