cements which are formed during burial diagenesis is one of the tools widely used in delineating burial history of formations. Since Zakeen and Faraghan Formations have been considered as a possible reservoir rock during recent years, it is of great importance to enlighten the burial history of these formations. This will be of great help in understanding whether these formations have passed liquid hydrocarbon window or not.

In this paper it was attempted to decipher burial history of Zakeen and Faraghan Formations of Paleozoic in Zagros area, by using existing cements in these formations, i.e. chlorite, sericite and saddle dolomite cements.According to presence of above-mentioned cements, it is believed that these formations have undergone at least 1-2 km overburden and 90-160 ºC temperatures. They were eventually buried up to the start up of catagenesis zone
