Pliocen-quaternary offset and evolution of Dorouneh fault system in Torbat-e-heidarieh–Kashmar segment

 

Abstract

For reconstruction  of Dorouneh fault system, from late Tertiary to Recent, middle part of this fault system (from south of Torbat-e-Heidarieh to north of Kashmar) has been studied. This part is divided in to two segments because of overlapping geometry. Reconstruction has been done with best fit of drainages, terraces and fan morphology in this segments. Considering to overlapping geometry and left-lateral strike-slip mechanism of Dorouneh fault system in this segment, uplift and folding of Pliocene-Quaternary sediment is observed in this fault zone.

 In south of Torbat-e-heidarieh- west of shadmehr village, cumulative displacement of Dorouneh fault system is is 800m. but in west of Shadmehr village- north of Kashmar, with two kinematic reconstruction, two displacements have been. estimated respectively are 1300 and 3300m.

Considering to displacements and relative age of displaced terraces and fans, minimum slip rates of south Torbat-e-heidarieh- west of Shadmehr village segment and west of Shadmehr village- north of Kashmar segment are respectively 0.8 and 1.3 mm/yr.
