Effect of structural location on geometry of Zahab syncline in Nehbandan fault zone

 

Abstract:

Variety of fold mechanisms and fold's elementaries(such as axe and axial plane) in different part of Nehbandan fault zone show the effect of fault mechanism and the connection of faults . Folding of shale and sandstone(tertiary)in 32°N(that related to crossing of N-S to NE-SW faults) had been created folds with different axes and axial traces . One of them is Zahab syncline that has axes : N00 22  ,  N265 30 and axial planes : N20W 50NE , N70E  65SE . The mentioned syncline is compacted by Asakoohak fault (dextral ,with orientation N05W 70NE)in east to southeast part , Zahab fault (dextral , with orientation N20W 65SW) along west part, Korgherig fault(reverse , with orientation) in northeast part .This location and progressive deformation caused that formed two axes and axial planes in this fold .
