Calcareous nanno plankton from Abtalkh formation in Mozdoran (Kopet-Dogh range)

Abstract

Abtalkh Formation is one of upper Cretaceous Formation in Kopet-Dogh range. Lithologically the Abtalkh Formation contains grey to bluish marly , limy shales and grey marls. (Afshar Harb, 1979)

The number of 80 samples are taken for examination from Abtalkh Formation. Samples were studied by polarized microscope and photographed by digital camera. As the result of this study 41 general and 71 species of nanno fossils are introduced. Based on the obtain nanno fossils the age of this Formation in studied area is late early Campanian- late Maastrichtian
