abstract
Wavelets transform is a new powerful tool for signal and image processing.Recently, this technique is widely used in many branches of remote sensing as well as for satellite image fusion. Conventional image fusion methods such as Intensity-Hue-Saturation (IHS) and Brovey have some drawbacks such as poor spectral quality, but in fusion using wavelets transformation spectral quality of fused image is similar to that of multi-spectral image. In this research, wavelets transform was used for fusion of SPOT satellite images. This transform was applied in two or three levels on the original images and only Haar wavelet function was used as base function of the transformation. Fused images using this approach have good spectral and geometrical quality comparing to conventional fusion methods.
