abstract
Creating Digital Terrain Models(DTM) from the directly scanned laser data is one of the most important applications of the airborne laser scanning (LIDAR) systems. During the past few years various methods have been proposed to extract the DTM from airborne LIDAR data. In this paper Morphological geodesic operation plays the key role to separate the non-ground regions from the ground regions. A short introduction is given first about geodesic morphological processing and then proposed algorithm is explained in detail subsequently. Finally some experimental results are shown and evaluated, which point out the capacity of the process.
