Abstract:
Karaj- Tehran water conveyance tunnel with a length of 30 km is designed for conveying 16 cubic meters per second for Amir Kabir dam to Tehran no.6 water processing plan. This tunnel is located between no.6 water processing plan in Kan area (ET) to k'' with a length of 15980 m and a slop of 0.13%. Due to high length of tunnel and time limitation (70 month) for the project and low rate for tunneling with old methods, applying mechanized tunneling method is not avoidable. In this paper, with respect to geological condition and comparison of advantage and disadvantage and penetration rates of different types of machines, it is decided to apply on double shield TBM for the project.
