Abstract:
Gavushan water tunnel is a particular case in Iran, due to the complexity of its geological condition and its large dimensions. Because of the high stress level imposed on the weak rock mass (serpentinite region) , creep in this region is avoidable. For the purpose of evaluating the tunnel long term deformations, a numerical method applied using Flac program in this study. The numerical model was compared with the convergence measured by data of convergencemeter in the corresponding section. Comparison of the results showed a proper agreement between numerical model and measured convergence of tunnel.
