The five-coordinated copper (11) complexes comprised both molecules of bipyridine, 1,lO-phenanthroline or the related ligands and one monodentate co-ligand have been attracting great interest for their diverse stereo and physicochemical properties [I]. The molecular structure of five coordinate copper (11) complexes show an extensive range from regular trigonal pyramidal (RTBP) to regular square based pyramidal
(RSBP) is intermediate complexes displaying a structure that is intermediate between the two extreme stereochemistries [2,3]. In the title compound,LCu(CloH8N2)2N03]PtT6 consist of a mononuclear Cu cation [Cu(bpy)2NO3]+ (bpy= 2,2 -bipyridine) and PFh anion. In the complex cation [Cu (bpy)2 NO3]+ shows a distorted trigonal pyramidal coordination geometry. The crystal structure and the packing is stabilized by n - n interaction between the bpy moieties. in addition to ionic interaction.
