industrial uses such as Various uses of bentonite in several foundry, drillig mud,Iron ore palletizing, fullers Earth and so caused that now considered as an important material.
In khorasan province due to aboundance of volcanic activity with intermediate to acidic composition , therefore suitable conditions to form of bentonite.
Some of the bentonite deposits are known such as: Chahkeshrnir,Chah-taleb,Hesamie,Boroon,Kuh sefid,Grimong, Korqound,Eshkaftoo,Bote zir,Gel kan. Geochemistry (XRF) and mineralogical ivestigation (XRD) show that Boroon bentonite is a Na-type and bentonites of Bote zir and Korqound are Ca-type.Bentonites of Grimong and Gel kan are Ca- Na type and Kuh sefid, Chah keshmir, Chah taleb, Hesamie and Eshkaftoo are Na-Ca type bentonite.
Resultes of industrial tests show that only Kuh sefid and Korqound bentonites are suitable for foundry and drilling but other bentonites should be actived.
