   General:
The sharekord kast basin which covers an area of 3733 Km2 is located in zagros main thrust fault zone of Iran. The main karstic formations in this basin includs middle cretaceous orbitolina limestones and oligomiocene white nummulitic limestones which covers 767 Km2 of the basin. The sufficient conditions for karstification including high precipitation , high elevation , low temprature and fractures due to tectonic activiteis have causes many karst features and karstic aquifers in this area.
In this article some results of comprehensive study of karst during 1997 till 2001 by Iran karst research center have been presented.
