   General:
The primary porosity and therefore permeability of area consist of hard rock formations such as igneous and metamorphic rocks are low and due to this fact the hydrogeologic properties are controlled by secondary factors like tectonic activity and weathering process. The tectonic activities are important that produce secondary porosity, and therefore, recognizing faults, cracks, fractures and other factors like vegetation cover, drainage system are most important in prospecting the area with higher
potential of groundwater.
Fractured zones with thin cover of sediment are traceable by satellite in form of linear features. Furthermore vegetation cover of dry season is a good guide in distinguishing the important lineaments and discovering of groundwater. In this paper we use remote sensing and GIS techniques to locate the potential area ofgroundwat
In this study, the landsat TM data of kuh-Sefid in Bavanat area of Fars province (54° of east and 300 20’ of north) used to rectify the lineaments in all directions and prepared vegetation, topographic, drainage and the geology map of the study area. The results are used to recognize the zones with favorable water potential compared with the field data like spring location and area with higher water potential
