The study area is located north of Alvand mountain range. Sediments originated from this region were transported in N-S and W-E directions to form Dasht Bahar. Their texture varies from mud to gravelly mud and sandy mud. Their grain size reduces downcurrent. However an eastward increase in their grain size is due to the convergence of Qara-chay and Quri-chay rivers in this direction. Existance of quartz, calcite, montmorillonite, albite, chlorite and muscovite in all samples indicates similarity of their origine. Some samples contain dolomite and show higher CaO contents. This s due to the proximity of these sample to carbonate source rocks (Oligo-Miocene sedimentary rocks). Textural and mineralogic composition of these sedimentss makes them as suitable sources for break industries.
