Body waves modeling of Golbaft 76earthquake in Kerman

Category Tectonic & Seismotectonic

Location 20th symposium on geosciences
Holding Date 16 April 2008

   General:
Our knowledge about historical background of seismic activity in Kerman region is very limited partially due to low density of population. However, during the past 25 years several destructive earthquakes occurred in this region and produced extensive destruction and many human loss. In this study, information from field investigations as well as the results from locally recorded aftershock studies were used to model the teleseismic bodywaves recorded by IRIS stations. Thus, the source process and the size of faulting as sell as dymanic stress drop were evaluated and discussed. Finally, the results were compared with the other studies
