Investigating the compression and shearing in the southwest area of Qayen based on the structural and geomorphological studies

The Qaye south-west area in khorasan province has two parts, one with northwest— southeast trend and the other with north— south trend. Results of structural and geornorphological studies show that amount of compression and sharing isn’t equal in this areas. Structural researchs was based on: folds, faults, joints and lineations studies.
Rose diagrams and Contour diagrams were drown and streographic analysis were done. Base on this studies two serie of structural elements distinguished and trend of main displacement vector was northeast— southwest. Fault mechanism and internal rotation of the system show the existing of two progressive dekrmation right lateral zones.
Amount of compression and shearing depened on kind of trending of structural elements to trend of main displacemeent vector. The northwest— southeast structural elements are more effecte by compression and the other one with north—south trend, the shearing component is predominant.
Geomorphologieal evidences also complete this results. Because in part with northwest— southeast trend vertical erosion in valleys is very importami. And cross section of valleys are V shape. many of fault Scarpments are existing in mountain boundaries with northwest— southeast trend. Amount of rivers sinusity is low hut amount of dip index is high. Different of level is very high between valley’s floor and neighhore terrans.
While in part of area with north—south trend deformation is depend on shearing, and cross section of valleys areU shape. Amount of rivers sinusity in this part is high hut dip index is very low.
Wethwere structural and geomorphological evidences explained different between amount of compression and shearing in south to southwest Quycn mountaines.
