General:
Regarding the historical background and instrumentally recorded earthquakes in the last century, Yazd region in central Iran has not a high level of seismic activity. From four years ago, a local telemetric seismic network has been deployed in the region by the Institute of Geophysics in Tehran University. In this study the records from this network as well as the earthquakes recorded by the globsi networks were used to study the seismicactivity in this region.
The results indicate a good correlation between the distrivution of local earthquakes and the main fault systems. There are some local faults where no earthquake has been located. On the other hand, there are some earthquake clusters that are not adjusted along any observed geological fault. For more details, extensive field observation are recommended.
