Abstract:
The study area with several Laterite- Bouxite and iron-oxide occurrences is located in the east of khuzestan province (ca. 20km east of Dehdasht city). In this paper, Crosta Technique is tested for enhancements and discrimination of iron-oxide and Laterite-Bouxite deposits in the study area. The PCA Eigenvector and Eigenvalues were determined for bands 1,3,4,5 of ETM-Landsat. The analyses show that PC1 indicates albedo, PC2 differentiate visible and infrared band characteristics and PC3 indicates vegetation cover. PC4 enhances iron-oxides (after negation) in the study area. The field observations reveal that the distribution of the iron-oxides deposits produced by this method is well in accordance with earlier reports.
