Maturity determination of organic matter and Burial History of the sediments using TTI and Tmax in Marun Oilfield.

Abstract:
      Source rock evaluation of Marun oilfield using Rock-Eval6 pyrolysis reveals that Kazhdumi Formation is the best possible source rock. In this oilfield, with increasing depth Tmax & TOC trend show meaningful increase too. Sarvak Formation of Bangestan reservoir in well No.123 is place at the beginning of catagenesis stage. This result is also approved by TTI curves drawn by burial history of the oilfield. Modified Van Krevelen diagram indicates kerogen type II for all the Formations. At the same time Kazhdumi and Sarvak Formations reached catagenesis stage of maturation, where as the rest of Formations are left at diagenesis stage. The organic matter in Asmari formation, show high Oxygen Index(OI) and low Hydrogen Index(HI) indicating oxidizing environment of deposition. Interestingly TOC and stage of maturity is low in the Formation, further approving its environment of deposition. On the other hand remaining formations were deposited at reducing environment, among which Kazhdumi is the best possible source rock. No doubt, taking all these parameters in consideration, will help reducing the risk of drilling preformed in the oilfield.
