Abstract:
Urmia lake is the largest hypersaline lake of the world which is located in NW of Iran. In this study, threecores for theShahid Kalantari High way bridge were used to calssimetery , granolometery and separation of evaporates and organic matter. Then the chart of evaporates, organic matters, carbonates and terrigenenous percentage are drawn versus depth.
As well as, the sediments of the coreswere studied and the stratigraphic column for them were drawn. Due to great similarity of these sediments for the studiedlocation, the chart of inclusive sedimentology are drawn and Transgressive and Regressive periods are recognized according to silt and sandy horizons associated with evaporate laminations with pellets and organic matter.
Keywords: Urmia lake, terrigenous sediments, carbonates, evaporates, organic matter, fecal pellet
