The region referred in this study as Kermanshah is enclosed between 45 and 48 east longitudes and 33 and 35 north latitudes. In this paper, first we present a detailed and reliable seismotectonic map. Then, active faults and historical, instrumental and the local seismicity are investigated. It is conculded that the faults in the region are active and can produce earthquakes with 6 to 7.5 magnitudes, thus, can produce intensities III to VIII and horizontal accelerations 0.02 to 0.43 Gal in Kermanshah. Historical earthquakes had magnitudes 5-7. A relation between Ms and mb is given for this region which is in agreement with the other relations. Return periods indicate that there is less possibility for the occurrence of large earthquakes in the region.
