Investigation on the structure, texture and model of Rapitan banded iron mineralization at the Gol-e-Gohar Iron deposit, Sirjan, Kerman

   Abstract:
      Investigation on the structural and textural characteristics of the ore deposits has an important significance on the model of mineralization. According to field observations and studying more than 130 polished sections and thin sections at the Gol-e-Gohar iron mine, structures such as, banding (macro, meso and micro banding) of magnetite with sulfide and silicate minerals on the scale of exposures, drill cores and hand specimens are observed. The important ore textures include granular, massive, banded, layered, recrystallized and oxidized texture. The presence of dimities and abundant drop stones in magnetite and host rocks indicate oceanic rifting and syngenetic mineralization in glaciomarine depositianal basins of Rapitan type banded iron formations and related textures and structures. The presence of organic mineral (graphite) was related to primitive organic activity and reducing condition for early diagenetic deposition of hydromagnetite, sulfide and organic colloidal gel.
