Abstract:
      Historical city of Bam, over 2000 thousands years old, severely damaged and almost destroyed by an earthquake on December 26, 2003. In this earthquake, with an intensity of 6.5 on the Richter scale, tens of thousands people killed and injured. Almost all buildings and facilities but a few of official and religious places severely damaged or collapsed. This earthquake also destroyed the most famous mud and sand stone building of the world Arg-i-Bam.
   Iran is one of the most seismic countries in the world, it located on Alpine- Himalayan Orogenic belt and witnesses so many devastating earthquakes in its history. With many small and big cities and villages located on high earthquake prone zone in Iran, it is our duty to reduce possibility of casualties with applying strict building regulation and modern construction and reinforcement methods.
