Comparison of Natural Gamma & Density Logs in Coal Ash Estimation

      Nuclear logging techniques are of great importance in coal exploration, such as determination of coal depth, thickness and quality. Using neutron, density & natural gamma methods in coal quality investigation are helpful. In this paper it is tried to investigate the coal ash content in Parvadeh-1 of Tabas region. Seven boreholes in the studied area were interpreted and quality consideration of logs was examined. Well logging was done in water filled and open boreholes. Density log shows that with increase of gamma emission in coal layers the ash content of the coal reduces while the natural gamma emission reduces. Statistical analysis shows that density log has a preference to natural gamma in estimation of coal ash content.
