Abstract:
Groundwater vulnerability maps are designed to show areas of greatest potential for groundwater pollution on the basis of hydrogeology factors. The goal of this research is groundwater vulnerability mapping of Behbahan plain aquifer for management and landuse decision ? making purposes, using DRSTIC method. The seven hydrogeology factors used in DRSTIC including Depth to water, Recharge, Aquifer material, Soil type, Topography, Impact of vadose zone and Conductivity of the aquifer, that control the groundwater pollution, were assembled and integrated to create groundwater vulnerability map. Based on DRASTIC index, central part of the Behbahan plain, that lies in Maroon irrigation ? drainage network, is more vulnerable than other parts of the aquifer.
