Study of Karst Development in Lacky aquifer in KhersanRiver Basin

Category Hydrogeology
Group GSI.IR
Location 21th symposium on geosciences
Holding Date 24 May 2008

Abstract:
The Lacky aquifer is located in the south of Charmahal-and-Bakhtiyari province. The karstic Asmari Formation outcrops on the aquifer. The depth to the water table and electrical conductivity of 4 unconfined piezometers and Khersan River were measured. They were measured daily or once every two days during wet season and once every two weeks during dry season since May 2002 To January 2003. The general direction of flow is from the right embankment to the left embankment in the Lacky aquifer, implying a probable karstic conduit in the left embankment. The permeability data, surface karst features, karst development by the action of Khersan River, and the water table elevation slightly above the river water surface show that the Asmari unconfined aquifer is most probably karstificated.
