The use of hydrochemical data for Assessment of hydraulicConnection between Zohre River and Zeidoun aquifer

   Abstract:
      Hydro-chemical data is one of the conventional methods for identification of hydraulic connection between water resources. For the same purpose, 17 water sampling stations (surface and groundwater) were taken into account in the area under investigation and concentration of elements such as Ca, Mg, Na, K, HCO3, SO4 and Cl were determined. Even though, whole samples fall in the same group (SO4, Cl type) but a number of samples show mixing origin and indicate hydraulic connection between ZohreRiver flowing in the area and adjoining aquifer in the Zeidoun plain. Due to mixing phenomena, concentration of sodium and chloride in these samples in down stream direction is increasing while calcium and sulfate is reducing.
