Sedimentological study of Quaternary Deposits forDetermination Flood Distribution Capability, Case Study In Aliabad, Malayer (South Trend of Alvand)

Abstract:
      Ever decreasing of groundwater and climatic conditions in our country, show the necessity of wisely exploitation of surface water. Moreover, improper distribution of water resources and existence of permeable alluviums, explain the floodwater spreading for artificial recharge of aquifers. Since the Quaternary plains are the best sites for floodwater accumulation and spreading, therefore sedimentology of Quaternary deposits is one of the most important strategies for receive to this aim.
   In study on Quaternary deposits of Aliabad-e-Malayer, we investigated the slope of spreading plain, permeability of sediments, thickness of alluviums, dissolution of sediments and sedimentary environment as effective factors which establish the potential of floodwater spreading, and after adding up the mentioned factors, this area has a comparatively suitable position for floodwater spreading.
