Abstract:
Shemshak Formation is well exposed in Narges-Chal area. It contains abundant well-preserved plant megafossils belonging to 10 taxa of various orders viz., Filicales, Bennettitales and Ginkgoales. Based on distribution of Scytophyllum persicum, Taeniopteris tenuinervis, Pterophyllum bavieri, Otozamites ashtarensis and Pterophyllum cf. teitzei, the Rhaetian age is suggested for this assemblage.
