Abstract:
Study of deposits of Qom Formation in northeast Garmsar, and taking 165 samples from a stratigraphical section located on north of Deh?Namak, was caused to identify 35 genera and 47 species of benthonic foraminifera. According to the microfossils, the age of the studied section is Early Miocene (Aquitanian to Early Burdigalian). The thickness of Qom formation is 401 m in the section which 161 m belongs to the deposits with Early Burdigalian in age. Assemblages of foraminifera in Deh?Namak section are comparative to biozonation of Adams and Bourgeois (1967), and referable to Borelis melo curdica group ? Meandropsina iranica Assemblage Zone and Miogypsinoides ? Archaias ? Valvulinid Assemblage Zone.
