Geometrical Analysis Qotbabad Anticline for Determination of Kinematics Pattern of Sarvestan Fault (Fars Area, Folded-Thrusted Zagros Belt)

The Qotbabad bifurcated anticline which is located in Fars sector of Zagros fold-thrust belt (NE of Jahrom town in Fars province, Iran) is placed near of basement magnetic lineation called Sarvestan strike-slip basement fault. This anticline has prominent characteristics such as two different structural trend in comparison with neibouring structures; the sinuosity in its axial trace of main branch; and concavity of its southeastern branch to SW. In this paper we introduce the effect of Sarvestan fault on NW-SE trend of anticline extending in southwestern part of study area and on northwestern nose of Qotbabad anticline for the first time. Similarly, study of meso-to minor folds in structural mapping across the area together with the geometry and kinematics of thrust and strike-slip faults were used for cinematic evolution of the area. From this cinematic analysis, we attribute sinuosity of axial surface of main branch and concavity of southeastern branch to shear deformation of Sarvestan basement fault on sedimentary cover.
