Seismic Hazard Evaluation in Zagros Collision Vs Makran

      To evaluate the seismic hazard in the region of Zagros collision Vs Makran, we have considered an area with dimension of 450X450 km2 in the North of BandarAbbas (South of Iran). The area of study is divided to 10201 equal sized cells to calculate the seismic hazard in the center of each cell.
   To construct deterministic seismic hazard maps, we have evaluated more than 5500 faults as linear seismic sources in the area of study. More over, corresponding seismic hazard maps have been prepared based on probabilistic method. The probabilistic approach is applied for 6 zones as plane seismic sources after refining the catalogue of historical and instrumental events.
   Results of this study showed that maximum horizontal acceleration is 0.42g in the center of this area based on probabilistic hazard map for return period of 1000 years. The maximum predictable acceleration for vertical component is calculated to be 0.18g. The high rate of seismicity is implying that constructing high ways, tunnels, airports and industry plants in this area should be designed based on our new reassessment seismic hazard maps.
