Potential fields play important role in the investigation of lihosphere structure. In recent years many new potential field data have been gathered (e.g. in Arctic Gravity Project and numerous satellite gravity missions) and also new data compilations have been accomplished. Data analysis and visualization methods also have been improved. These facts served as a base for preparation of new gravity and magnetic maps of Europe and also wider potential field maps of northern continents. A comprehensive analysis of compiled data have been performed using different methods of transformations and visualization. A new approach of data analysis recently proposed by the author (a directional decomposition of potential fields) has been used to show some key areas of European lithospere in new light.
