More high grade gold at Burbanks
Barra Resources has intersected continuing high grade gold mineralisation associated with both the Dahmu Reef and deeper drilling of the Eastern Reef at its 100% owned Burbanks Gold Project, located 8km south west of Coolgardie, Western Australia.Deep exploratory underground diamond drilling commenced recently from the decline to test grade and width continuity of historical high grade rock chip sampling on the seven level, 170m beneath current mine development. These old mine workings are thought to represent the down plunge extent of the Eastern Reef at depth. The sampling program, conducted in the early 1950’s, was undertaken every 1.5m along the backs producing two pay runs of 30m length at 1.5m true width grading 17.2g/t gold and 90m length at 1.2m true width grading 13.0g/t gold. According to the company, preliminary drill results have been extremely encouraging with the intersection of several narrow high grade intervals up to 30m above the old seven level down the southern end of the two pay runs. Better results include 4.00m at 9.56g/t including 2.35m at 14.24g/t in BBUD274, 1.51m at 11.68g/t in BBUD286 and 0.50m at 32.71g/t in BBUD294. These new results coupled with recent geological interpretation suggest the Eastern Reef at these depths is approaching 200m in strike length. Deep drilling is continuing to test both the strike and depth extent of the Eastern Reef above and below the old seven levels. Underground diamond drilling testing the along strike and down plunge potential of the Dahmu Reef, located approximately 50m east of the Tailor Shoot – Eastern Reef, has continued to intersect high grade gold mineralisation. These latest results from between the 330 and 295 levels include 7.0m at 9.35g/t including 1.0m at 43.41g/t in BBUD284, 1.03m at 30.01g/t in BBUD273, 1.7m at 4.92g/t in BBUD265 and 1.55m at 8.04g/t in BBUD262. All are associated with intense biotite alteration, abundant quartz veining, and sulphides. These new intersections confirm Dahmu’s consistent high grade nature and continuity between the 330 and 295 levels. Current drilling also indicates the true width increases to over 6m in areas below the 295 level. Dahmu exhibits a similar orientation to the historically mined Jesson Reef which produced in excess of 110,000 ounces of gold.Deaan Goodwin, the company’s managing director, said that Dahmu is currently open along strike to the north and at depth up and down plunge. “A major attraction to Dahmu is its very close proximity to existing mine infrastructure allowing it to be exploited with minimal development. Several other repetitions of this style of mineralisation which were recently intersected during underground decline development on the 265 level east of Dahmu are currently being evaluated,” said Mr Goodwin.
