Presenting primary fault map of Karaj city and its suburbs

Preparation of Karaj fault map was carried out by the Applied Research Centre of GSI and finally it was approved at 10^th project meeting by the investigation committee on Karaj and suburbs fault range.

Mentioned meeting was held at the Applied Research Centre of GSI and some delegate the Earthquake National Work Group, Buildings and Urban Development Organization, Earthquake hazards of Alborz province and some academic member national universities participated at it.

After further investigation and updating data, this map could be used in urban development projects.

It is worth to mention that project on revising and illustrating fault of megacities of Iran was embark on 2016 and GSI was ed to set up this projects in Tehran, Karaj, Mashhad, Tabriz and Kerman cities. This project will be defined slide rate of fault in mentioned cities.

Now this project in primary stage and in next stages further investigation will be carried out and methods such as surveying on satellite image, field study, geophysical study, dating and paleoseismology will be applied.
