Landslide in Indonesia kills 14, including children Fourteen people are dead and several houses have been flattened following a mud slide in Indonesia. The mud swept down a mountain and through two villages in the Purworejo district in Central Java, following torrential rains. At least of five of those killed were children under the age of 10 and one was a pregnant woman. The victims houses were at the foot of the mountain. Landslides are common in the Indonesian rainy season, which runs from October to April, because large areas of forest has een cleared from slopes, leaving them unstable. ABC Radio Australia News
