Peshawar, Pakistan, - An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale rocked northwestern Pakistan on Wednesday but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property, officials said.

Tremors were felt at2:47 pm (0947 GMT) in
<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Peshawar and Chitral bordering Afghanistan, a seismological department official told reporters.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located some 300 kilomters (188 miles) north of
Peshawar in the Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan, he said.
