Tehran, May 27 - Strong quake measuring with 6.2 degrees on the Richter scale jolted Iranian capital city of Tehran Friday afternoon at 17:15 PM local time, but there was no word on the possible casualties. The epicenter of the earthquake was told to be in Yoush and Balade, a small town in northern Iran, Tehran observatory said Friday. The moderate quake caused panic among the metropolitan city inhabitants. Iran is prone to fluctuated earthquakes as the country is located on a seismic belt. The tremor has also been felt in Azerbaijan, Qom, Golestan, Zanjan, Isfahan, central province, Gilan and Mazandaran.
