An earthquake measuring 4.8 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale hit the towns of Raz and Jargalan in this northeastern province on Saturday.
An earthquake measuring 4.8 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale hit the towns of Raz and Jargalan in this northeastern province on Saturday.
 According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute, affiliated to Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 08:02 hours local time (0332 GMT). There were no immediate reports of any casualty or damage to property.  Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines and quakes of varying magnitudes are of usual occurrence.
