After testing the second geothermal well, Iran ranks first in the Middle East in terms of geothermal energy, Petroenergy Information Network (PIN) reported.Yousef Armodeli, managing director of New Energies Organization, noted that Iran has established one of the best companies for building and designing geothermal installations in the region and was achieving technology for making photovoltaic panels and solar mirrors.“The first photovoltaic power plant in the country has been built in Taleqan region with the capacity of 30 kw/h electricity and has so far contributed about 70 MW hours of electricity to cross-country power grid,” he noted.The official noted that about 40 bln rials has been spent on Shiraz solar power plant and an equal amount of credit is needed for making the plant operational.
