Exploration and exploitation of brine potash in the best situation can supply only one fourth of Iran’s demand. This shortage and need is compensated by the Geological Survey of Iran .Eng. Farhadi Executor of potash projects said that the administrator of rock potash is the Systematic Exploration Project. He further added that Some of the important potash projects are as follows; Iljaq,Gonbad-e-Namaki, Pohl and Choupanlou. Their reserve is about 3 million-ton holding a carat of 50% that is a significant amount on this issue. It is predicted that remarkable results will obtain till the end of Iran’s fourth economic development plan. At present, potash is not produced in Iran and the demand that is 2000 ton per annum supplied by importation. Iljaq in Zanjan province is the biggest recognized reserve of potash in Iran. It has two million ton of potash and is going to be exploited in collaboration with foreign companies. Pohl and Choupanlou projects are going to be completed soon.
