Geodynamic permanent network established by the GSI
To reduce earthquake risk, the Geological Survey of Iran will establish a geodynamic permanent network. This network is being established in Iran to make research studies and reduce the risk of earthquake. Dr. Abbass Bahrodi GSI's Geodynamic group Manager in an interview with GSI New Section said that It can provide and update considerable volume of data regarding the Earth crust displacements information. Therefore, it can play a significant role to reduce natural hazard traces, including human and financial damage. Establishment of temporary network in Iran has indicated that the system of geographic location finding has been very efficient, particularly on seismicity and geological events. After Bam aftershocks on 25 December 2004, it has been decided to establish a geodynamic permanent network in Iran. One hundred modern sensors have been selected for finding the geographic location. This network will continuously pick up a lot of data from all bases throughout Iran, then they will be transferred to the central selection of the Surveying Organization via a particular telecommunication system. These dispatched data will be processed and given to the Internet, daily. Since one of the priorities for this project has been to reduce the earthquake risk, a special attention was paid to plus installations.
