Construction work of a cement plant has started in Andimeshk, northern Khuzestan Province. The plant is to be built in Bidrubeh region of this southwestern city in an area of about 150 hectares. It is projected to produce one million tons of the commodity per annum, slated to come on stream within the next 42 months.
Ministry of Industries and Mines had earlier referred to the 4m-ton increase in the cement production in the country and had stated that a main portion of the increase in the production would be achieved through establishing three cement production plants in Hormozgan, Isfahan and Fars provinces.
Iran’s cement production currently stands at about 33 million tons per year and is expected to reach 70 million tons by the end of the Fourth Five-Year Socioeconomic Development Plan.
