Reporting the Public Relations of Geological Survey of Iran and according to Irna, Abdolmajid Vakil, explorer of Sarcheshmeh mine of Kerman in 1967 said that the copper has been mined and melted thousands years ago in historic township of Jiroft according to existing evidences that it is possible to leave the copper reserves there considering to ancient mining effects.
‘The exploration in the area is in progress now as bore drilling and exploration tunnels and geophysical and geochemical studies and it is the biggest copper exploration operation by the country private sector” the executor of the copper exploration in Jiroft stated.
“Up to now, the considerable reserves of copper have been gained as vein that will be finished by end of the current year” he followed.
He added finally that there are at least 1 million ton of copper slag in northwest of Jiroft resulted by ancient activities of melting copper in the region that can be prepared abrasive powders economically.
